Welcome to Bungalow #3 in the heart of Facey Farms, Papago Village, Saipan, MP 96950. It only took us two years to finally move in! When the idea to move to Saipan first came about in 2009, it was through my old law school classmate Eric Nelson, who lived here from 2007 to 2009 clerking for a judge. I picked his brain about moving here, and he made it clear way back then that if we ever made the move to Saipan, we had to live at Facey Farms - a big piece of jungle owned by Jerry and Irene Facey (he's American, she's Palauan) with 9 cottages randomly placed in among the palm trees. The farm and its cottages are tucked into the side of the jungle sloping down to Lau Lau Bay on the southeast side of the island in such a way that you'd never even know it was here driving down the main road past it. They are always in hot demand as they are all very quaint and peaceful, with incredible views (the picture above is the view from our back deck).
Because of the demand, it took from March 2010 (when I first started talking to Jerry Facey about moving in) until March 2011 for a spot to open for us. And it only became available after the guy who used to live here (who is apparently in witness protection) suddenly had to move off island...but that's an entirely different story. Nevertheless, we couldn't be happier here - it's the simple sort of island living we had hoped for when we moved to Saipan. And even better, several great friends of ours live in many of the other bungalows. It's sort of like summer camp in the middle of a jungle with the small rustic cottages and all your friends around - the only things missing are the flag pole and the archery pits - but I suppose that's easy enough to fix.

Congratulations on the digs! Too bad you didn't move in a couple of years earlier so we could be neighbors. I'm sure glad to see that you and Colleen are doing well and living the life in Saipan. Take care, my friend.
ReplyDeleteBrian and Colleen,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the move into Bungalow #3. Hey I have and invitation for the two of you to come to a party in June. I have been dragging it around with me for about three weeks because I have no idea how much postage is to Saipan. Now I've misplaced the darn thing. Well, I'm sure it will surface after our party... then I can mail you a letter saying how much fun we had.
It will never compare to yours and Colleen's Wedding and Reception. The two of you have an awesome life! I'm so happy that the two of you found each other while you are still so young. I finally "woke up" and let go of a nowhere relationship so God could bring me to the one my soul really loves.
It would be fantastic if David and I could make the trip to Saipan...Blessings to you both!
Brian and Colleen,
ReplyDeleteYou may wonder who the heck is Cyndonna! I did not know I was signed in under her account. So Cyndonna is really me! HA
If you buy a bow and arrow, I'm in for some good ol' fashioned coconut shootin'.
