Happy Halloween!

We've done fairly well at hiding the fact that we're almost a month behind on blog posting - until today when we were forced to reveal the secret by posting about Halloween on November 17th - sorry, but the cat is now out of the bag!  What you have been reading about lately happened weeks ago....BUT...the good news is that today, November 17th, we officially have the Interweb at HOME (a real Saipan luxury!)  So, beginning today, your computer may crash from the flurry of new blog posts heading your way! (**Mom - your computer will not crash.)

Now that we're all on the same page...on to Halloween!  Interestingly enough, Halloween is celebrated in the exact same way here that its celebrated at home: costumes, trick-or-treating, the whole thing.  The only difference is that here its 85 degrees on Halloween.  Colleen loves this difference and shared with our friends her childhood memories of wearing a full snowsuit under her Halloween costumes.

This year, we decided to go with an island theme from our carved pumpkin to our homemade costumes - Colleen as a blue starfish and me as a sea cucumber (Shark Sh*t - see below) - both sea creatures are found everywhere in the surrounding waters of Saipan.  Colleen even added glitter to her cardboard starfish and I included a blow hole that squirted water (sea cucumbers squirt water when you squeeze them.)  We were pretty proud of our creations until we got to the bar later and were asked if we were dressed as Gumby and a trashbag.  Nonetheless, good times were had by all.  A special thanks to Betty Manion for all the festive decorations and CARVABLE pumpkin sent via care package!  Awesome!
