Honeymo....er, First Anniversary

As you may know, our anniversary was Sept. 12, 2010 and this blog post is Oct. 1st....our apologies for the delay - as you can imagine internet is not so great out here on this tiny island, so we have several back-logged posts waiting to go up....your patience is greatly appreciated.  One day soon we'll be up to speed.  Another side note, if you didn't already know, you can click on the pictures to see them larger.

Its safe to say it will be a challenge to top our first anniversary, but I guess that's the way it should be, right?  What a perfect "getaway"/second honeymoon/first anniversary we had!  It started on Saturday, Sept. 11th, by checking into the Hyatt Regency Resort (one of the nicer resorts on Saipan - we became members of it and get all sorts of deals, including a free room), laying by the beaches sipping on Bahama Mamas, wading through the ocean, watching the world go by.

We then had an amazing dinner at Giovanni's at the Hyatt, an upscale Italian joint.  A subtle FYI to our waitress that it was our anniversary produced a massive piece of Mississippi Mud pie which was awesome.  The next morning, the Hyatt does this very impressive Sunday brunch (which was why we became club members in the first place) complete with bottomless Bloody Marys and champagne, all the weird raw fish Japanese stuff you could ask for, along with all the American brunch staples, great breads and fresh fruits, gluttony at its finest.  Not sure if it was the champagne, the raw oysters, or a combo of several things, but it knocked me on my can immediately after.  We rallied and made it to the pool where we spent the rest of our afternoon reading, swimming, and trying not to stare at all the Japanese and Russian tourists.  A perfect day!

And, to cap it all off...Mike Schmiege (Colleen's cousin) and his very new bride Kate (congrats!) sent us an awesome wedding gift - a bottle of champagne for our first anniversary, a fancy wine for our 5 year, and an even fancier wine for our 10 year.  Cool idea.  I get a kick out of the fact that Schmiege has managed to now be an intimate part of our anniversarys for the next ten years!  We're glad to have he and Kate with us in spirit!
